Ask ScooterDad: My sons scooters rear wheel is making a clicking sound when weight is applied but no sound when spinning the wheel.

Answer:

It's probably a bad bearing in the wheel, but it could also be a damaged wheel hub. Start with replacing the bearings if the wheels are still in decent shape.

Ask ScooterDad: Can I fit the phoenix session 2 bars on envy cnc thread less ihc forks and fasen raven CNC threadless ihc forks? My bars have a slit in them

Answer:

Yes, the Phoenix Session 2 comes with standard diameter bars and an IHC fork, so it should be compatible with other IHC forks.

Ask ScooterDad: i have a razor pro xx and was wondering if i could install a threadless fork?

Answer:

Yes, you can install a threadless fork, but you'll also have to replace the headset with a threadless headset and use some kind of compression. Depending on what compression you go with will determine what kind of clamp and bars you can use. So, yes, you can do it, but it's a lot more involved than just replacing the fork.

Ask ScooterDad: Hi I have a fasen Raven and I'm thinking of ordering oversized apex Bol bars with a pre cut slit, will I have to get a different clamp

Answer:

The Fasen Raven uses an IHC fork and IHC compression with a standard diameter clamp and standard diameter bars. You wouldn't be able to use any oversized bars without changing out your fork, clamp, and compression system.

Ask ScooterDad: Why do bars need slits and what do slits really do? Are they necessary?

Answer:

If you have an external clamping mechanism (ICS, IHC, HIC), then you need a slit in your bars. Without the slit, the bars will resist compression and the clamp will do nothing to squeeze the bars against the fork or shim. The slit allows for compression of the bars. This is not true with SCS as you want the bars to be solid and resist compression since there is nothing inside the bars.

Ask ScooterDad: I'm am getting a new scooter and I was wondering which scooter to get Fasen Raven or Envy Prodigy?

Answer:

They are both great scooters. The Raven is lighter and stronger, but it's also $60 more. If you are a beginner, go with the Prodigy. If you're an intermediate, go for the Raven.
