It sounds like you needed those spacers underneath your headset's dustcap to account for an improperly machined bearing cup. This is fairly common. The top of your headtube should go like this, going up: bearing cup (integrated, hopefully), bearing, headset spacers, dustcap, then bars/compression/clamp.

Ask ScooterDad: The spacers on my scooter are small what can I do to fix this?

If you mean headset spacers, those can be purchased from scooter parts retailers. If you mean rear wheel spacers, those are more difficult. Check with retailers or try the hardware section of an Ace Hardware or similar store. Your best bet is to try to get the OEM replacements.

Ask ScooterDad: My son has Grit forks and the wheel slides back and forth. Am I missing a spacer or is there a specific wheel size? Im stuck......

Looking at the Grit website, it looks like most of the forks do use spacers, so that's probably the issue. You might need to contact Grit support, a retailer, or a distributor to get replacement spacers.
