Answer:

There are standard bars and oversized bars. Additionally, there are steel bars (standard or oversized) and aluminum bars (standard inner diameter, oversized outer diameter). The type of bars you use will be determined by the type of compression you want to use and vice versa. Standard bars work with threaded compression, IHC, ICS, and small SCS (or fullsized SCS with shim). Oversized bars work with fullsized SCS and HIC. Aluminum bars work with ICS and fullsized SCS.

Ask ScooterDad: I have threaded compression that comes stock on the Grit Fluxx, what parts do I need to change to go to SCS compression?

Answer:

It looks like the newer Grit Fluxx scooters come with mini-HIC and threadless headsets, so I'll assume you have the older one that still has a threaded headset.

To convert your Grit Fluxx with threaded headset and forks to SCS, you'd need: a threadless headset with bearing cups, a threadless fork (not for IHC or ICS), an SCS clamp, and you'd need to cut the slit off your bars.

Ask ScooterDad: How long does a scooter fork have to be to run SCS?

Answer:

Usually the problem with forks and SCS is that the forks are too long and you need to use headset spacers, but it all depends on the fork, the SCS, and the deck's headtube length. There is no set measurement. You'll have to test fit everything or ask the retailer selling the parts.

Ask ScooterDad: Will I need spacers if I use a full size scs proto with a lucky smx fork?

Answer:

It depends on your deck's headtube length, but I'd say get some spacers just in case. Lucky SMX forks are really tall, so you will likely need headset spacers even if you have a full-size SCS. You can always cut the SMX fork and hammer the spacer further in, if you have to.

Ask ScooterDad: How do I install SCS onto a District FK1Fork?

Answer:

You can't use SCS with that fork. The District FK1 fork is meant for ICS, so there is no starnut in the fork.

Ask ScooterDad: can an scs bennis bar fit ihc cyborg forks

Answer:

I assume you mean the Sacrifice Bennis SCS bars. They are standard diameter, so they would work with IHC forks, although you would need to cut a slit in the bars and use a clamp.
