SCS

Ask ScooterDad: Hi kenny, I am looking into buying a Proto SCS clamp and was wondering if my parts were compatible with it. I have a district DK2 deck, FK2 fork, District integrated headset, and Al2 bars. Thanks Calcin

The FK2 fork is an ICS fork, so there is no starnut. You could convert it by cutting off the top of the fork and installing a starnut, but I'd recommend just picking a different fork. In my personal experience, District FK2 forks aren't that strong either. Also, you should know that 1) you'll need a fullsize SCS (not baby SCS) if you want to use aluminum bars with it and 2) sometimes, aluminum bars don't fit perfectly in SCS clamps and you may need to make a small shim out of a popcan.

Ask ScooterDad: If i want to ride envy reapers would they fit HIC if they had a slit?

Answer:

Reaper bars will not work with HIC because they are not oversized internally. They will work with SCS (fullsize, not baby), IHC, or ICS.

Ask ScooterDad: can you use scs on ihc forks

Technically, you might be able to make an SCS system work over the top of an IHC fork with IHC shim, but I really don't recommend it. You're just going to create too many points of dynamic contact (parts that can move).

Ask ScooterDad: Hey, I have recently bought an scs compression system (everything fits ok with spacers) and i cant seem to screw the bolt from the top cap into the fork. im confuuused! Thanks in advance :)

Answer:

If the bolt doesn't reach the starnut or threads in the forks, you may not need the spacers or you might need a longer compression bolt. It's also possible that your fork is just too long; some forks need to be cut and have the starnut pushed further down into the fork. Your best bet is to call the retailer or shop that you bought your parts from as they can provide more specific help on the parts you bought.

Ask ScooterDad: Hi, I have an ethic artifact deck with the envy prodigy 2013 fork in it (Not sure what it's called), and I'm planing on buying a proto or tilt SCS but I'm not sure if my fork will work with SCS. Could you explain what I need to run SCS?

Answer:

I believe that year's Envy Prodigy came with an IHC fork, so you couldn't use it with SCS. You would need a standard threadless fork, not an ICS or IHC fork, in order to use SCS.

Ask ScooterDad: Can the envy aosv3 charles padel sig deck and the downside bohemian fork run scs compression?

Yes, that combination should work fine.
