Answer:

You almost always need new, longer axles when adding pegs. You can buy hardened steel bolts at a hardware store or talk to a scooter retailer about longer axles.

Ask ScooterDad: I bought some metal wheels for my daughter's MGP scooter, and she liked them, but I failed to use loctite on the rear axle, and the screw backed out. Result is a lost screw, and one outside spacer. Where can I get a replacement spacer?

The best place to buy replacement axles locally is a hardware store like Ace Hardware. If you want to buy them online, look at Inward Scooters. For MGP Flow, Pro, and Team models, these are the axles you want: http://inward-scooters.com/products/replacement-axle-set-for-mgp-flow-pro-and-team-scooters
